Apple to Hold iPhone 3.0 Software Event on 17/March

Apple announced an "advanced preview" event scheduled on 17/March/2009 that will focus on version 3.0 of the iPhone software. The invitations, sent to select members of the media, do not detail any specifics of what will be included in the next generation of the iPhone OS, but seems to indicate clearly that those features will be previewed on Tuesday.

Apple held a similar event last March, where it unveiled the iPhone developer SDK and laid out a roadmap for the iPhone through 2008.

While there is no indication of any accessibility features planned for the iPhone at this time, there is no information, (not even rumors), on new features included in this update. We hope that, given the recent attention paid to bringing accessibility in the form of VoiceOver in the new iPod Shuffle and the speaking menus of the iPod Nano last September, that Apple will continue the trend with the iPhone OS. We shall see.
