Apple Releases OS X 10.5.8 with Accessibility Fix
— ♣on Wednesday, Apple released Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.8 via OS X’s Software Update facility. Apple’s release notes make no mention of any accessibility changes, instead focusing on stability, compatibility, and security.
However, as several readers have pointed out, there is at least one accessibility fix that should please VoiceOver users. A long standing issue in Safari, where using VoiceOver’s Item Chooser feature to select an element on a web page would not properly move focus to it if VoiceOver was not first interacting with the HTML content area has been fixed in this update. You can now properly have focus moved to the item with the Item Chooser, regardless of VoiceOver’s focus in the Safari window.
