Infovox iVox Users Should Hold Off Upgrading to Snow Leopard

Assistiveware has notified customers that Infovox iVox v1.3 will not work under Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, due for release this Friday. Users will require Infovox iVox v2.0, which will be a free update to existing users of v1.3. If possible, the company hopes to release a public beta of Infovox iVox v2.0 by Friday, 28/August. If you rely on Infovox iVox, do not upgrade to Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard until you have upgraded to Infovox iVox v2.0.

If you rely on the older HD voices, you should not upgrade to Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, as the change to support 64 bit technology made it impossible to retain the HD voices in Infovox iVox v2.0. For most languages, HQ voices are available. Several new voices are included in Infovox iVox v2.0. Only Icelandic has been completely dropped in v2.0 because there are no HQ voices for that language.
