Apple Announces International iBooks Stores
— ♣In addition to the announcement of iPad availability internationally, Apple has also confirmed that its iBooks ebook reader and store will be coming to customers outside the US as well. Among the confirmed countries for iBooks availability are Australia, Canada, France, Italy, Japan, Spain, and the United Kingdom. At this time, availability of iBooks in Germany or Switzerland is unknown.
iBooks is available for the iPad, and will make its way to the iPhone and iPod touch devices when Apple releases iPhone OS 4.0 this summer. It provides fantastic access for low and no vision customers to a huge catalog of free and commercially available books, as well as the ability to read DRM-free titles in the open EPub standard format.
